Collaborative Design (Spring 2018)
In this undergraduate course at Notre Dame, students were placed into inter-disciplinary teams for a variety of design challenges throughout the semester. Projects varied in scope, deliverables and suggested design methodology, but allowed teams to function as independent studios and make their own decisions as they researched, designed and prototyped.

Prompt: Design a solution for a “moment of transition” for undergraduate students at Notre Dame
Focus: Students changing majors throughout their careers
Solution: Revamped curriculum for First-Year students that allows and encourages them to take one-credit courses in various departments that reflect upper-level courses or potential career opportunities afforded by that academic track

Notre Dame 2030: A Force for Good
Prompt: Design the a strategy for growth for Notre Dame in the year 2030
Focus: Developing our identity as a “force for good” in the world by applying our knowledge and talents to real-world problems
Solution: Redesigned curriculum that includes more industry-sponsored projects, academic immersion semesters, enhanced First-Year seminar series on ethics and current events, and more

Prompt: Design and build a business plan for a new restaurant in the Notre Dame student center
Focus: delivering a fast and healthy option for students on-the-go between classes and activities
Solution: a build-your-own smoothie and fruit “buffet-style” bar that utilizes technologically-advanced blender cups that track your creations to allow for ordering ahead and remembering your “usual”
